Final Post

Imagine if there was a teleportation technology that was able to teleport students to classes? Imagine that. Anyway to a more realistic idea, imagine if like there was facial recognition technology installed in every hall. This idea might be somewhat out of the realm to others but I believe that if this existed it would make the lives of college students especially SU students easier. With the facial recognition technology students can have access to their halls easier, faster and more efficient rather than to wait in a long line for check-ins.

My entrepreneurship idea in the beginning seemed far fetch as to how this would turn into reality. I learned so much through this project which helped me extremely broaden my idea of a facial recognition technology to be installed all around campus especially in Syracuse. Many factors didn’t come to mind such as, how it would be installed, the effectiveness of the technology on the students and faculty, the safety of individual identities.

As time went on, I found out that in order to setup up this technology a special computer was needed to be created. This computer would have had to be very effective in such a way that it would be efficient and fast for students and faculty to use. This computer would have had to have a CPU with a large amount of storage space and memory to keep track of individuals. For the facial technology to work it would have had to have the ability to identify people and provide feedback like the person’s name, major, room and much more.

I also found out about cloud computing which would have made the job of storing over 16,000 worth of identities into one big storage room. Through cloud computing, my data would be more efficient and affordable.  I was drawn into this technology to help me save money and time. Also through cloud, factors of security came to play. If information went online and could be accessible to third parties, my job to keep track and understand the language of programming. And with that knowledge I could keep identities safe and be able to expand to other business and schools.

In order for my idea to be successful, I had to also keep track of my competition. Many companies are coming up with this idea of facial technology but through the project I was able to extract the differences and uniqueness of my idea which I could benefit from. Others were not expanding their idea but with mine I could make it successful by not only selling to businesses but also to schools especially colleges that contain an enormous amount of people.

Finally to bring my idea to reality, I will need special software programs and computer that are able to run on my facial recognition program. I would also need people with a complete understanding of operating system to aid me perform certain functions on my technology as to rebooting it without losing any data, manipulate my technology to keep track with updates and changes. For example if a student was to switch majors, halls and extra it would be easy for me to adjust and change information.

Security:- Malware

Imagine if there was a teleportation technology that was able to teleport students to classes? Imagine that. Anyway to a more realistic idea, imagine if like there was facial recognition technology installed in every hall. This idea might be somewhat out of the realm to others but I believe that if this existed it would make the lives of college students especially SU students easier. With the facial recognition technology students can have access to their halls easier, faster and more efficient rather than to wait in a long line for check-ins.

When coming up with a technology that revolves around personal information and identities, security is a main concern. With the facial recognition technology surrounding the whole college, information is needed to be retrieved from time to time for many reasons such as security. Sometimes information is needed to be shared with a third party through encoding. This week we were learning about IP addresses and how to read encoding programs and commands to comprehend how information is sent from one location to another. With that knowledge, I can share information with the school system back and forth. This is really important to understand for my idea because there is so much personal data is installed in this program.

With that said, security is a main concern when it comes to my facial recognition technology. Also with modern technology and programs, the dangers of viruses and malware have increased tremendously. Malware unfortunately gives people access to discreet and personal information which can be harmful to many students that attend college especially one like Syracuse. It is really vital to keep my technology safe from any virus to avoid any disasters.

Personally, it is very important to keep my technology safe such as a student’s identity, where they live, their birth date and etc. Building this technology would mean that students and the Syracuse body system would rely on me to keep every detail as accurate as possible and with extreme caution. For my technology to be successful, I would need to take all these concerns about security and viruses in consideration.

Operating System

Operating System

Imagine if there was a teleportation technology that was able to teleport students to classes? Imagine that. Anyway to a more realistic idea, imagine if like there was facial recognition technology installed in every hall. This idea might be somewhat out of the realm to others but I believe that if this existed it would make the lives of college students especially SU students easier. With the facial recognition technology students can have access to their halls easier, faster and more efficient rather than to wait in a long line for check-ins.

This week’s lecture of operating systems thought me personally that for my idea of facial recognition technology to work I would need a set of software programs.  These programs will contain instructions that work together to coordinate all the activities among computer hardware resources. With the knowledge that operating system performs functions such as starting and shutting down a computer, providing a user interface, managing programs, managing memory, coordinating task, configuring devices, establishing an internet connection, monitoring performance, providing file management and other utilities and automatically updating itself, it will be an essential tool to manage and perform within my technology.
However, with the size of my technology, it would have to use a different size operating system because operating system are written to run on a specific type of computer. I would purchase the cross platform program because it runs on the same on multiple operating systems. With that I can install the software programs, which will run on all the facial recognition technology throughout campus.
So if anything was to happen to the system as in not functioning at its best I would be able to shut it off and restore everything back to normal. Meaning I can reboot the system if the technology wasn’t working perfectly. With the user interface I can manipulate the data stored in the technology to adjust to any changes as to if a student changed majors or halls, I can adjust the system to recognize the student and the changes.

Cloud Computing

Imagine if there was a teleportation technology that was able to teleport students to classes? Imagine that. Anyway to a more realistic idea, imagine if like there was facial recognition technology installed in every hall. This idea might be somewhat out of the realm to others but I believe that if this existed it would make the lives of college students especially SU students easier. With the facial recognition technology students can have access to their halls easier, faster and more efficient rather than to wait in a long line for check-ins.

So for my entrepreneurship idea to work, facial recognition technology would need a large amount of storage capacity. If this technology was to be installed in every hall in syracuse,  it would require an enormous amount of storage capacity. With this many students students who attend this college every piece of information is needed to be tracked and kept safe.

Cloud computing seems to be the new technology companies and agencies have drawn to. With this new efficient technology and its affordable price, cloud computing is at a high demand.Cloud computing can store every piece of data retrieved from the facial recognition technology. If the facial recognition technology goes cloud, many would questions its security and safety.

I will admit that if facial recognition technology goes cloud, the security and safety of every individual’s information will not be a 100%. But that is the risk i would be willing to take if it goes cloud because with cloud computing, it would teach me how to use the facial recognition technology more efficiently. Instead of me spending so much money on hard disk and memory, I could save my information of over 14,000 students of Syracuse online. With cloud computing i could save overload charges such as data storage, software updates, management and other more.
